Children’s Program

program is designed to develop positive attitudes, discipline, and coordination of the mind and body, as well as teaching a non-violent method of self-defense. These systems help to offer insight into the profound lesson of human relationships; especially relationships with other children. These classes foster relationship skills left uncultivated by our educational system or by team and individual sports. This is the result of the blending of energy that must occur between practice partners. Our paired practice teaches partners how to work together to achieve a shared goal. Our program does not teach a fighting attitude. Instead the dojo provides an atmosphere of cooperation in order to solve problems. Students work at their own pace while being encouraged to show trust, respect, and humility for themselves, their classmates, and their families. Young students also learn how to reduce their chances of being a victim of crime by learning to recognize the danger signs of an impending confrontation. During training, they will participate in exercises which will improve mental alertness, perception, and reaction time. These advantages will help them to make better choices about their safety and the safety of others.
Aikido Masters offers the arts of Aikido, Kempo, and the samurai sword for older children ages 7 and up and Kempo for children ages 5 to 6 years of age. We also offer the renowned “Ko-Tora” (Young Tigers) program. Ko-Tora is founded on the belief that a well rounded, balanced student will become a more successful martial artist. This special curriculum is voluntary and by invite only. It encourages young students to the path of excellence while cultivating mental, physical, spiritual, and academic attributes. The “Ko-Tora” student serves as a role model for all other students in the dojo. This is a distinction of honor that is taken very seriously and requires diligence to maintain.
