Kempo or “fist law” is an ancient art of blocking and striking methods. Alone, the art of Kempo can be used by employing an extensive repetoire of blocks, parries, evasions and striking techniques. Additionally, it is used in conjunction with throwing systems like Jujutsu and Aiki-jutsu in order to get through an opponents defenses, allowing for the application of a throwing technique to be applied.
Training in Kempo focuses purely on effectively blocking against uncontrived attacks and then retaliating with strikes to incapacitate the aggressor. In Fukasa-ryu Kempo, there are katas (forms) which develop balance, postures and proper technique. Kempo also teaches the development of power and speed against people of all different sizes and skill levels.
