Women’s Self Defense

womenselfdefenseweb1In Today’s world, it is becoming more and more important for women to learn how to defend themselves and without the proper skills, we are more at risk of being a victim. Unfortunately, nobody thinks it will happen to them until it is too late. Aikido Masters understands that not everyone has the time to commit to regular training on a weekly basis, but self-defense training provides the necessary knowledge that could potentially save a person’s life.
However, it is unrealistic to think that a one time seminar of an hour or so will teach you what you need to be able to successfully implement a technique when actually attacked on the street. Movements must be engrained into muscle memory through repetition to be used effectively.  It is for this reason that Aikido Masters is offering a special four-hour intensive seminar. The series will be offered quarterly over 2009 with each class covering a new topic as well as reviewing some of the previous ones taught.
Topics will include rape prevention, what to do when grabbed or choked, how to block and strike effectively, and how to use the weapons around us effectively. Be prepared to participate as David Nemeroff, Soke-dai instructs you in easy to use escape methods and strategies of defense.
Class will be on Saturdays, 12:30-4:30pm
First session, Jan 24, 2009 – Rape Prevention
Second Session, April 25, 2009- what to do when grabbed, choked or grappled
Third Session, July 18th 2009 – defending against strikes and how to use them efficiently.
Fourth Session, Nov 14th 2009 – knife defenses and using the weapons around you.
Cost is $65 per session for pre-registration and payment three weeks prior to the event. It is $75 per session if paying at the door or only $60 per session if you pre-register for all four sessions. Please call 484-245-0567 to reserve your space, as it is limited.
